100% shards it's the same as like 2-3 hours of pickpocketing elves for each armor seed. If you use bofa to it's fullest for pvm you will blow through armor charges. For a main it is better to not corrupt the bowfa. It takes 130 hours of constantly firing a bowfa to use up all the charges 2k crystal shards would have given. If you ever plan on selling the bowfa later, then corrupting is a waste of gp. You will have enough gp for a TBow before the 130 hours are up. They're both amazing, but the Bowfa even without the armor is a huge upgrade in a gulf of ranged alternatives. The only other competitor in your situation is your standard RCB/Crystal Bow/MSB (which are all roughly the same power) and then the Tbow. There's just nothing in between now that the blowpipe has been pushed to a more niche role.

So it'd cost 450gp* for each hit you take while wearing crystal armour, and 150gp per shot with the Fbow. And realistically the price of crystal seeds is going to go up once the BP nerf happens, and the Fbow is released.
