Baldurs gate 3 dual wield longswords.
The first two proficiency points in Two Weapon Style significantly reduce the penalties for dual wielding- IIRC it's something like -4/-8 penalties to hit by default, -2/-6 with the first point in TWS, -0/-4 with the second point, and then -0/-2 with the third. *Usually* the third point isn't worth it, at least until quite late.

Shortsword/Scimitar is better in general for dex based characters since they're finesse and Longsword isn't. Longsword also isn't a light weapon so you can't dual wield with it without taking the Dual Wielder feat, at which point Rapiers become the best weapon for a Dex based character. Longswords are for Str based characters.
