I currently have the sinister LBG and it seems like Pierce and shrapnel ammo is the way to go. I don't think Shrapnel is used by most bowgun players. If you're wanting a Pierce build, then use Night Owl. It's got Rapid Pierce 2 as well as Slicing Ammo.
