It looks like there was the OTA update that was sent to the "Radio" And that had also triggered an update in the Instrument cluster for the main ECU and something called "graphic update". He re-forced the graphic update and then after that was able to re update the ECU. First thing I would check is relay not sure if a different relay is used in auto. If the multi function works in manual then to me that would rule out the multifunction.
