Pawns can't be any of the hybrid class. You can't use an item on a pawn manually except for items with party-wide effects. You can give them the item and they'll use it when they find it necessary. Anyway, yes, Mystic Knights ranged options are irritating to access. If you want Sword and Ranged, go Assassin. If you want Shield and Ranged, go Mystic Knight. If you played the first game you'd know thats nothing like mystic knight. I don't think mystic knight being gone is a deal breaker as long as mystic speaehand is just as fun but nothing can replace MK'S riposte counters.
